Infoway is proposing an accelerated and complementary stream to pan-Canadian interoperability work that introduces the “HALO Framework”plug-inthat allows functionalities to more seamlessly and easily integrate and cooperate with POC vendor solutions. HALO applications utilize data from multiple sources, including POC solutions and jurisdictional repositories, pull it into a single view in an App, enabling physician access to a full suite of digital health tools that become part of the POC solution. Vendors can develop and/or implement HALO applications for their POC solutions (a one-time build that could potentially be done relatively quickly by vendors and PTIs) while Infoway continues to drive data content and exchange standards
HALO is a standardized technology framework that enables approved third-party applications to seamlessly “plug and play” into any authorized clinical applications,such as EMRs with the ability to coordinate their activities with other POC applications.
