The platform

Simplifier.net is a web application operating as a FHIR Registry capable of establishing a project context in order to manage and render FHIR resources that are part of that project. Technically speaking, an ImplementationGuide (IG) is just another FHIR resource, however, from a usability perspective it should be regarded as a micro site offering all the necessary information needed to implement a solution described through its content.

Typically, an IG is an HTML hierarchy of pages listing all the details related to Profiles, ValueSets, Extensions, server end points or any other technical data that make up the published solution. As such, the IG needs to reference and render FHIR as well as other content necessary to paint the story.

The platform presents an intuitive user interface for uploading/downloading/editing and managing project content. This user friendly, WYSIWYG approach allows collaborative teams to build an implementation guide online using simple Markdown authoring. Along with its robust online help, the platform provides what is probably the most user friendly IG development toolkit currently offered on the market.

With the October, 2017 launch of the Canadian FHIR Registry, all registered projects enjoy free of charge access to these authoring capabilities removing the burden of creating, maintaining and deploying build environments, as required by the HL7 IG Publisher.

How to create an IG using the platform

The easiest way to get started is to request the creation of a project within the Canadian FHIR Registry by contacting the InfoCentral team. Once the project is created and administrator rights are assigned, the authoring controls are readily available.
