Canadian Edition package includes one (1) set of files for referencing the English and French CA content and the July 2017 version of SNOMED CT International. This publication format is provided to Canadian stakeholders to facilitate implementation if there is no need to use the Canadian Extension* files separately. The content of this package has been pre-computed and harmonized based on the module dependency when several extensions are merged.

The package is a zip file that includes text files in the RF2 format as per the SNOMED International specifications. The files provide the three (3) types of releases: full, delta and snapshot. Each type of release file includes refset files and terminology core files.

*  The Extension package will be available only upon request. It consists of three (3) different modules and files that can be implemented individually: there is a module for the English CA content, one for the French CA content and one for the References sets that are in scope for the release.

Of specific interest in this release, current implementers want to review these changes:

  • There are 288 deprecated codes, we provided the "Map To" information but did not add the suggested codes to pCLOCD. We encourage implementers to request the addition of any of these codes if required.
  • The majority of the deprecations were related to the Streptococcus pneumoniae antibody codes, these codes were ambiguous as to serotype designations, Regenstrief updated the unambiguous terms to reflect the Danish serotypes.
  • There were 12 California encephalitis virus terms that were undeprecated based on reviewing the latest literature and confirming that California encephalitis virus is a distinct member of the CAL serogroup in addition to LaCrosse virus (LACV), Jamestown Canyon virus (JCV), Snowshoe Hare virus, and Trivitattus virus.
  • 19 codes for Chlamydia trachomatis antigen or Neisseria gonorrhoeae were set to Discouraged by Regenstrief (still active in pCLOCD) because antigen testing for C. trachomatis and N. gonorrhoeae is no longer recommended; nucleic acid amplification testing is preferred.
