Welcome to the SNOMED CT Canadian Edition!
The Canadian Edition of SNOMED CT is a comprehensive and granular clinical reference terminology that includes Canadian English (CA EN) and Canadian French (CA FR) content, as well as Canadian subsets. The Canadian Edition of SNOMED CT is maintained by Canada Health Infoway as the Canadian Standards Release Center (CSRC) and published four times a year in February, May, August and November. The Canadian Edition is aligned and includes the latest SNOMED International release. It also includes content requested by Canadian implementers to support digital health across the country, such as:
- Tracking, reporting and monitoring of Communicable Diseases in ON and MB
- Sharing of Diagnostic Imaging reports across the various Diagnostic Imaging Repositories in ON
- Recording of Immunizations by Public Health Agencies across the country, First Nations communities, the National Vaccine Catalogue (NVC) and in the CANImmunize mobile app
- Support of the Primary Health Care Content Standard to enable the comparison of population health trends and informs health system planning and evaluation.
- Support implementations of multiple interoperability projects from the Canadian Institute for Health (CIHI) like pan-Canadian Health Data Content Framework (pCHDCF) and Primary Health Care projects, pan-Canadian Organ Donation and Transplantation (ODT) Data and Performance Reporting System, and Health Human Resources Minimum Data Set; Ontario Health’s Lab Information System (OLIS) and Provincial Health Service Directory (PHSD); other projects from Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec (MSSS) such as CNESST, CISSSMO, PTI and Synoptic colonoscopy report.
