Vaccine-Preventable Diseases
This content is intended to be used to associate vaccine-preventable diseases with the associated disease-specific vaccines and passive immunizing agents.
Scope Definition:
The scope of this subset is diseases that are prevented by administration of vaccines. This allows the association of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and Antigens (AntigenCode) and Immunoglobulins (ImmunoglobulinAgentCode) subsets.
General rules applied to this section
- The diseases in this subset align with the content from the Canadian Immunization Guide (CIG)
- A list of SNOMED CT International concepts is found in this tab
- A Canadian Edition (conceptID including 1000087) description or concept may be created if the concept does not already exist.
Fully Specified Name
The format for the Fully Specified Name (FSN) is as follows:
Disease Name (disorder)
E.g.: Cholera (disorder)
FSN Components
Disease Name
- This is disease, as per the CIG, to be associated with the relevant vaccines
- There is no parentheses (…) other than for the semantic tag
(disorder)
- This is the semantic tag representing the context of use within SNOMED CT for any concept that is within the clinical finding hierarchy.
Preferred Synonym (English)
The format for the Preferred Synonym (PS) is as follows:
Disease Name
E.g.: Cholera
PS Components
- There is no PHAC abbreviation
Disease Name
- The PS reflects the common terms used in the CIG
- The term ‘disease’ may be part of the PS
For example: Lyme disease
Preferred Synonyme (French)
- La plupart des synonymes privilégiés en français proviennent de la traduction originale (projet 2009).
- Un synonyme peut être créé et ajouté au concept lorsque la traduction originale ne correspond plus à l’usage commun ou n’est pas assez spécifique au domaine d’application
