The Public Review period for the Pan-Canadian Patient Summary Interoperability Specifications v1.0.0 TI Candidate is now open!

The timeline for Public Review is: September 9 - 21, 2022.

You may review the PS-CA Specifications in the following formats:

• Download the PS-CA specifications in PDF format from the corresponding links in the table above or on the Release page. 
• Review the PS-CA Specifications in InfoScribe, from the corresponding link in the table above or on the Release page.

How to submit your feedback:

• All Collaborators are invited to document comments using the Public Review Comments PS-CA v1.0.0 TI Candidate spreadsheet, available here. 
• Send an email to [email protected], with Subject Line "PS-CA", including the Comments spreadsheet as an attachment.
• We kindly ask that each organization submit all comments within one spreadsheet submission. 
• Upon submission, you will receive an acknowledgement email with a reference number. Our team will complete a review of all comments, determine the appropriate disposition for each item and incorporate changes and backlog items for a future release.

Release Notes:

FHIR Implementation Guide Change Log

• Changes to the FHIR Implementation Guide are documented in the Canadian FHIR Registry, PS-CA project, located here.

PS-CA Specifications

• Updated the Glossary to include definitions for the Reference Architecture, CA:FMT, SVCM and The College of Family Physicians of Canada's definition for the Medical Home
• Published Privacy as an Enabler, which provides an introduction to interoperability, an overview of Canadian privacy laws and some practical approaches to privacy for interoperability. The Privacy as an Enabler: Sharing Personal Health Information for Interoperability Primer is available for download here.
• Added new profiles to capture Family Member History and generalized Social History Observation profiles as part of the Patient Summary. These profiles are optional.
• Updated the Preface to include a link to The Value of the International Patient Summary in Canada, a white paper published by the CHIEF Executive Forum, which provides an overview of IPS implementation globally, including lessons learned from other countries. Benefits and value to patients, clinicians, and the healthcare system are explored in the white paper and these lessons are translated into key themes for IPS in Canada, as well as a roadmap to successful implementation.
• Updated an error in the Search Data [CA:FeX-2] to state that the Data Responder (not the Data Recipient) receives the request and returns the Bundle.
• Updated the PS-CA Specifications - FHIR Implementation Guide Purpose section to include a snippet with a hyperlink to the FHIR artefacts in Simplifier.
• Updated the 'Core Interoperability Specification Requirements' section to clarify that both the MHD and CA:FeX implementation options are focused on solving for the same set of use cases.
• Updates applied throughout the PS-CA Specifications to point to the RA where content previously existed within the PS-CA Specifications, see more details under Companion Guide: Reference Architecture.

Companion Guide: Use Cases and Definitions

• Replaced the Patient Summary Definition and Clinical Benefits and Value with new / updated content in one section called Patient Summary Overview.
• Updated UC-01 to represent the PS-CA Producer as the Health Care Provider using their Health Records System to align with the other use cases, the sequence diagrams and the glossary definitions for PS-CA Producer and PS-CA Author.

Companion Guide: Reference Architecture

• Moved Foundational IHE Profiles and other core reference architecture concepts from the Companion Guide into the new Reference Architecture (RA), RA v0.1.0 DFT, an evolving blueprint of service availability that supports a broader interoperability landscape.
• Removed the XDS implementation option.

Terminology

• Removed the 'GPS terminology' in alignment with the changes in IPS and recommended IPS SNOMED Free Set (developed and maintained for international use).
